About State University

Located just 15 miles north of Boston, Salem State University is one of the largest state universities in Massachusetts, and an important partner in the economic, cultural and intellectual vitality of the greater Boston region.

Salem State’s mission is to provide a high-quality, student-centered education that prepares a diverse community of learners to contribute responsibly and creatively to a global society, and serve as a resource to advance the region’s cultural, social and economic development. Within the Massachusetts state university system, Salem State is proud to have one of the most diverse undergraduate populations on our campus.

Event Background

Salem State made the decision, that instead of just one big event during the high yield season of the spring that they would expand opportunities for admitted students to connect with different offices and departments within Salem State University. From the beginning of March through mid-April, with the possibility of expanding the series, Salem State has run its “Visiting with Vikings” admitted student series.

Their panels for admitted students have ranged from First Year Experience, a Day in the Life, Residential Life, and Athletics – offering a wide variety of speakers and topics, allowing students to have hyper-specific questions answered. Salem State consistently has had an engaged audience throughout this series, that not only has had high levels of interaction with the faculty and staff presenters from Salem State University but also amongst themselves! Students began to utilize the live chat within the Conduit platform as they shared social media handles, talked about what they were looking for in roommates, potential majors and more!

The Results

This is just the beginning for Salem State and what they have gotten from their full utilization of the Conduit platform. Since their first event of the ‘Visiting with Vikings’ series, they have seen 320 students come to their Admitted Student instance. Within the admitted student instance, these students have almost 6,000 combined activities. This means that not only are students attending the presentations but they are viewing on-demand content and taking full advantage of the chat feature. This is the benefit of Conduit and PQCast – allowing students to take advantage of all content an institution has to offer.

The PlatformQ Education team has really helped our team get going with Conduit during a time of heightened stress across our industry. Their team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure we are prepared and set up for success. On top of all of that, the new and easy-to-use additions to their software continue to make building virtual content for our prospective students easier and dare I say fun!
